New Projects
IAPT
"My role is to work in partnership with NHS Barnet to deliver Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Employment Targets and develop clear care pathways across mental health care and employment. The service will have a particular element targeting BMER communities and those impacted in higher deprivation environments working with emotional resilience and wellbeing services to encourage joined up provision. Part of my role will be to set up and facilitate a Joint Strategic Employment Partnership Agreement which sets out the requirements for other providers in the employment and well-being arena in Barnet to work in partnership to achieve the NHS Barnet aims and objectives associated with the Well Being Services." Terry Kafizas - Employment Support Co-ordinator
Personalisation
"Jointly funded by the London Borough of Barnet's Innovation Fund and Richmond Fellowship's (RF) Personalisation Development Fund for 1 year, my role is to increase awareness and understanding of the Personalisation agenda in Barnet for mental health service users and professionals, clarify eligibility criteria and the referral/application process, and identify the barriers to receiving a personal budget for people with mental health problems. I will be producing a guide to Personalisation which gives details of the processes/procedures involved. I am working closely with RF Barnet staff to identify those who may be eligible for a Personal Budget and providing guidance and support to achieve this, whilst developing strong links with other organisations in the borough, and involving Service Users in the development and delivery of the project. I am also working with the RF National Personalisation Lead to develop marketing materials, and develop the administrative and pricing structures to enable RF services to be purchased directly by Service Users." Miriam Eissa - Personalisation Coordinator
PSA 16
"Working in partnership with the London Borough of Barnet and the Mental Health Trust, my role is to support people with mental health problems gain paid employment using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, the principles of which are to integrate employment support with treatment, and provide this support as soon as an individual identifies they wish to gain paid work. My role is to provide: careers advice and guidance; advice about benefits; support with CV writing, interview preparation and effective job seeking; advice on whether and how to disclose a mental health problem; and ongoing support once in paid employment. I also work with employers to challenge stigma and discrimination, open up opportunities for service users who are willing to disclose their mental health problem and advise on reasonable adjustments that could be made in the workplace. This is a 1 year pilot project working with service users receiving secondary mental health care from either the South West Community Mental Health Team or the Early Intervention Team. The project is funded through the London Borough of Barnet's 'A Home and A Job' project (previously identified as Public Service Agreement 16). The project also aims to develop a partnership approach to employment support by promoting joint working with voluntary and statutory sector partners." Jennelle McCloughan - IPS Employment Adviser
